Howard's Donuts & Deli
5 years post-launch
on Google Maps
in San Bernardino, CA
from scratch
Howard's Donuts & Deli is a family-owned neighborhood staple that has been serving San Bernardino, California since 1996. When the pandemic hit, the business had no online presence, no brand identity, and no way for new customers to find them. The goal was to change that — fast, and on a tight budget.
I led the rebranding effort end-to-end: creating a new logo and visual identity, designing and building the website, and setting up their digital footprint. The site gives potential customers a place to view the menu and pricing before walking in, learn the history of the business, and find directions — all of which directly reduced friction in the customer journey.
The results speak for themselves. Sales grew 200% over the following five years, and the business now receives over 20,000 views per month on Google Maps alone.
Brand Identity & Logo Redesign
The business had no consistent visual identity. I designed a new logo from the ground up — balancing the warmth of a mom-and-pop shop with a clean, modern aesthetic that could work across signage, print, and digital. The result gave Howard's a face customers could recognize and remember.
Website Design & Build
Visit site ↗With zero budget for paid ads, the website had to do the heavy lifting. I designed and built a clean, mobile-friendly site that showcased the menu, told the story of the business, and made it easy for customers to find hours and directions. The menu page features real photography of the food, giving customers confidence before they walk in the door.
Digital Presence & Discoverability
Beyond the site, getting Howard's discoverable was just as important. Setting up and optimizing their Google Business profile — with photos, hours, location, and menu details — created a second surface for customers to find them. The 20,000+ monthly views on Google Maps is a direct result of that groundwork, and continues to drive walk-in traffic to this day.
